Job Overview:

  • Develop and implement Company’s operational strategic direction. develop, direct and share company’s policies, standards and best practices;
  • Ensure implementation of processes and procedures and programs focussed on efficiency and with special regard to TOS applications, quality and productivity, over the entire portfolio of terminals;
  • Promote collaboration and best practice sharing amongst Business units for TOS utilization, new technology. Setup and lead TOS user groups and form a centralized TOS knowledge base, implementation and system migration. Assist the Business Unit in selecting TOS and related technologies/technical applications in line with TOS strategy;
  • Enhance systems utilization, planner and dispatcher staff competence and optimization of TOS functions in the Business Unit. Where necessary Setup and deliver training methodology for terminal planning.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT field or Bachelor degree in Management
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification
  • Project management experience IT related or system migrations on terminals
  • Understanding of programming languages and techniques and understanding of systems architecture and application interfacing
  • Knowledge of Terminal operating systems and the latest port technology
Port experience
  •         Minimum of 8 years’ experience within container terminal industry as a line manager with a keen interest in business practices and process improvement & systems
  •         In depth understanding of yard and vessel planning with the help of TOS
  •         Hands on involved in at least 2 TOS migrations or startup of major applications

Job Duties:

Process improvement
    • Develop and implement Company’s operational strategic direction. Write and share company’s policies, standards and best practices. Ensure implementation of processes and procedures that are cost efficient and with special regard to TOS applications, quality and productivity, over the entire portfolio of terminals.
    • Provide support to Business Units to optimize their operational processes. Conduct assessments of Business Units and advise CEO how to improve their efficiency and aim for provide continuous improvement of DP World’s operations.
    • Develop and roll out a number of optimisation programs and initiatives throughout our portfolio.
    • Measure and analyses data

Terminal operating systems
  • Conduct gap analysis between TOS requirements and selected TOS, assist with the various O&A sessions, sign off project expenditure and implementation plans, and Identify the training requirements
  • Advise how key staff need to be trained, planners, equipment controllers, field operators with RDT/HHT/VMT, advice on control room setup and job allocation.
  • Ensure successful system and applications implementations and migrations.
  • Make an effort to reduce the TOS vendor professional services by setting up in-house regional centers of excellence to assist implementations/migration.
  • Sign off the project plan for system migration or implementation and minimize exposure, put the necessary change management measures in place. Arrange (virtual terminal) integration test, set up and organize training, simulate work load and stability in necessary with the help of emulation tools in order to make the implementation success, also ensure there is sufficient roll back possibility to the old application according to DP World policy.
  • Asses TOS utilization in the BU’s, complement shortcomings with training recommendation in co-operation with DP World Institute and tools such as learning. Advise on training content and syllabus and encourage new training methods via Emulator.
  • Hands-on Assistance in the Zodiac application development and testing.
  • Give input to the development roadmap of internal TOS product Zodiac and influence roadmap of 3rd party product in line with global TOS strategy.
  • Manage the TOS and periphery technology vendor relationship from a central Head Office perspective.
  • Organize yearly TOS user groups and create groundswell amongst operations and system administrators.
  • Make recommendations for process optimization with the utilization and setting of the advanced functions in the TOS, if necessary with the help of simulation packages from vendors. These can be specialist modules such as Expert decking, prime route, and auto stow.
  • Screen the Business Unit’s IT budget for TOS and related technologies/technical applications.
  • Advise senior management on AFE for TOS and other related technologies/technical applications.
  • Provide data and input for the global operations portal
  • Write frequent articles to share best operational solutions and developments.
  • Share experience and present on the Global Operations conference for large public.

New Technology
  • Closely follow the technology developments in stevedoring market for process and equipment automation. Promote early adoption of new and proven applications including but not limited to Labor Management Systems, Berth and RTG Optimization tools, new technologies i.e. OCR, RFID, PDS, auto handoff and telemetry solutions.
  • Drive the automation working group in the DP World portfolio and keep the terminals up to date of the latest development.
